The Trump administration continued its trend of turnover with John Bolton set to take over for H.R. McMaster as National Security Advisor on April 9. This news comes on the back of Larry Kudlow replacing Gary Cohn on the National Economic Council and Mike Pompeo’s appointment to the Secretary of State position, replacing Rex Tillerson.
These replacements are a sign of things to come, and one that should be embraced, generally. Between Bolton, Kudlow and Pompeo, the Trump administration may finally be able to start moving decisively and together on policy.
The importance of this overhaul cannot be overstated — the Trump administration has been plagued by leaks, inconsistent messaging and policy disputes within departments throughout its tenure. These policy disagreements and an inability to agree on, or understand, strategy presented an uphill battle for President Trump’s policies.
